Our Story

Artmosphere began as a backyard studio pottery in 2014, when we moved to the pristine village of Thiruvaniyur on the outskirts of Ernakulam. We started off as a two women team, working part time and made a plethora of gas fired functional and non-functional pottery. We started out by selling our wares in local markets and exhibitions, popularising handcrafted ceramics locally.

We were fortunate to have several connoisseurs and pottery enthusiasts from in and around reach out to us for their pottery requirements. We are proud that our products were created from our own in-house clay body, which we formulated with our own research and development. The glazes were also developed in house and have gone through extensive testing to ensure that they are right fit to our clay body. We have been able to achieve consistent high-quality glazed products and can assure you that the glazes used on functional ware are food safe.

By 2019, consistent and repeat orders encouraged us to transform into a full-time pottery. Today we have grown into a larger team, taking on highly customised as well as limited bulk orders. We are intrigued and inspired by the wide range of customisation that our clients have demanded from us. This has been the driving force behind us to continue to innovate and push the limits of our
creativity.

This got me thinking if I as an individual can generate so much, then it’s that many times the potters in India,

world and what about the tile companies, ceramic factories. It sent me on a path of reading a lot of articles and research

documents about ceramic waste management.

There are a lot of experiments and innovations being done to use ceramic waste in certain percentages with the clay itself and as an aggregate in concrete.

Research is being done utilizing waste from tile and sanitary ware factories to create tiles and industrial ceramics with success. Right here in India, we have Mr. Shashank of Ecoceramics who has successfully created dinnerware from the waste he has sourced from Kurja.
