Sushma Anand is an accomplished potter who has been in the field for over 20 years and has created her own identity in the Indian pottery community. Sushma had her initiation in to pottery through Tozhikazu Kanai a Japanese potter whom she met in Chennai. There after she sought out and trained under the legendary Ray Meeker and Deborah Smith of Golden Bridge Pottery, Pondicherry. She fondly credits her teacher Amrita Dhawan from whom she imbibed a meticulous and ethodical approach. She further honed her skills through exploration and experimentation, and by participating in numerous workshops conducted by renowned potters from abroad and India.

Sushma once remarked “Clay is my canvas and glazes are my colours”. Her immense creativity  and imagination have been  showcased in various shows & exhibitions including the famed ‘21 Carriers,  2003’, New Delhi, ‘Apposite Possibilities, 2011′, Kochi, ‘Little infinity show, 2017’, New Delhi, ‘Porcelain Show, 2018’, New Delhi, ‘Into the Box, Jaipur, the Ceramics Triennale 2018’, ‘India Welcome show, in Slovenia, 2019’,  ‘Synchronized, 2019’, New Delhi, ‘ Matisse, 2020’, Culcutta and ‘Desolate, 2021’, New Delhi. 

Sushma is a passionate artist and teacher who has a rich background in fine arts from Stella Maris College, Chennai. She has had impactful tenures in teaching aspiring potters, school children and the public.
